A Terrifying Classic Brought to Life

Lovecraft and Robert Bloch were clearly having fun bumping each-other off in "The Shambler from The Stars" and this follow-up tale, but they kept the stories terrifyingly serious, and the HPLHS crew have actually improved on the original. They've added new and interesting characters for the unfortunate hero to interact with and fleshed out the back stories of the Starry Wisdom sect and the missing reporter, which Lovecraft only briefly touched on. And all the while maintaining the atmosphere of steadily mounting terror and paranoia. One of their best yet!

The team at HPLHS have done it again with this outstanding adaptation of Lovecraft's tale of extradimensional horror. It follows the original story closely, and the performances are, as always, first rate. I especially enjoy the sequence that has Gilman transported to another world to encounter the Elder Things from At the Mountains of Madness. A great production and wonderful props, especially the Accession Card of Brown Jenkin's remains. A real winner!

The best monograph yet

I bought the hardback version and it doesn't disappoint. It's well made and mysterious while adding that cosmic horror element the HPLHS is known for. If you bought the other monographs then you should get this amazing monograph and complete your collection. If you don't own the other monographs then this would be a really nice place to start.
