"Why'd it have to be snakes?"

Dark Adventure Radio Theatre®: The Curse of Yig brings to life H.P. Lovecraft and Zealia Bishop's tale of the curse of an ancient snake god in a 1930s-style radio drama. Dark Adventure Radio Theatre® presents the tale with a cast of professional actors, exciting sound effects and thrilling original music by Reber Clark and Troy Sterling Nies. Click here for more information about our other Lovecraft stories in the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre® series. They're like movies you can enjoy with your eyes closed.

A student of Native American lore investigates Yig - the shadowy snake god of an extinct tribe of the Great Plains. His investigation uncovers an account from 1889 of settlers homesteading in the Indian Territories of Oklahoma. A pervasive fear of snakes nudges a simple settler towards madness. Are his fears of the dreaded snake god's curse just the result of hearing old stories, or is a new story unfolding as Yig's curse takes hold?

The CD edition features the 70-ish minute audio show plus a collection of props to enhance your listening experience. The props include:

  • a map of the Oklahoma Territory from 1889
  • a newspaper account describing a trip through the wilds of the west
  • a unique Native American depiction of Yig
  • a land office homestead claim to 160 acres

The evocative cover art by Darrell Tutchton is available on shirts and other fun merch through our Redbubble store!

The CD edition of The Curse of Yig also includes a free digital download of the show. Everything else you ever wanted to know about Dark Adventure Radio Theatre® is right here.

For those who enjoy props but no longer use CD technology, our Download with Props Via Post option gives you the best of both worlds by letting you download an MP3 of the audio and receive the props in the mail.

Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - The Curse of Yig

I am always so excited to see what the HPLHS will come up with regarding these audio dramas. The insight they have is phenominal and every single episode is not only throughly enjoying, but absolute fun as well. You can't go wrong with any of these great audio dramas.

Very Impressive

One of my favorites! Audrey’s freak out is downright intense at the end! I thoroughly enjoyed the cast and sound effects for this. Those accursed drums…

I hate snakes!!! But love this story

Interesting take on the old west and one thing I love about DART, you do your best to even out that side of Lovecraft a lot of people don't talk about, as I imagine HP Lovecraft and Mrs. Bishop would grind their teeth to make colored folks seem likeable characters.

Anyway, living in the South West and listening and reading some of the stories by Howard E. Roberts, I remember I first Yig's name in that Horror collection if is. DART once again helps bring conclusion and a finality to the HP Lovecraft tales. Lets face it, HP could write a good hook but he would be hard pressed to give you a conclusion that did not feel like the end of a Soprano's episode going straight to black,
