Patch Yourself Up

The HPLHS is pleased to announce the first wave of our new line of cloth patches. Woven to capture greater design detail, the patches are 2.5 – 3 inches across with iron-on backings (though we recommend sewing them in place for long-term use). Our vivid Lovecraftian artwork will spruce up your jacket, book bag, or whatever else you choose to affix them to. Order them individually or get the full set!

Need a garment to attach them to? How about the Tibetan Hoodie or Antarctic Expedition Hoodie!

The Miskatonic Expedition Set

These patches document three of Miskatonic's most celebrated (if ill-fated) expeditions of all time: the Antarctic Expedition of 1930-31 (2.5 inches diameter), the Australian Expedition of 1935 (3 inches across) and the Tibetan-Leng Expedition of 1926 (2.75-inches diameter). These are artfully designed in a period style to let you display just the right amount of Lovecraftian authenticity. Order them individually or save a couple of bucks and get the whole Expedition Set.

SHIPPING UPDATE

Southbound Ho!

I love this patch! I am getting it sewn onto a baseball cap so I can wear it around to show my support for the expedition. HPLHS always comes up with the best and this collection is tops!

Fun set of patches

Disclaimer : please keep in mind that english is not my everyday language and that my goal is to collect HPL/Miskatonic memorablia credible for the 1920's/30's, not for the 2020's. My review is written along this lines.
Set of patches well made and with original designs not seen elswhere. That's really nice.
The triangular one is more "fun" than "credible" because of the Elder thing representation on it.
" - Well I think we should show on our expedition's patch the cosmic horror we want to keep the most secret to the rest of the world. Subtle idea isn't it ?
- Oh yes professor Peaslee you're right. Maybe we should also advertise in Life magazine the fact we have the Necronomicon in our library ?"... Well, you see what I mean !...
On my opinion the two rounded patches are the best of the set... by far !
But unfortunately they are wayyyyyy too small to be credible to picture early 1930's ones. At this period embroidered patches were large (even oversized by our 2020's standards), VERY large indeed (even the varsity letters were HUGE size in the 1920'/30's).
Another detail is that period patches were "cut edge" i.e. without the finishing sewing (bourdon stitching) at the border. Yes, I know, this tended to fray a bit and patch loose sometime a thread or two... But it was made like that back in those times. Sewing the patch rather than gluing it with heat solve this problem (and is far more authentic on you support : bag, jacket, etc.).
I'm sure the HPLHS could improve the authenticity of those patches for the next batch.
That's the reasons it's not a "five stars" for me : too modern and not enough vintage.
