"You know how it goes, evil like that just won't stay dead."

Dark Adventure Radio Theatre®: The White Tree - A Tale of Inspector Legrasse is an original and thrilling spin-off story featuring the hero of H.P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu in a 1930s-style radio drama. Dark Adventure Radio Theatre® presents the tale with a huge cast of professional actors, exciting sound effects and thrilling original music by Troy Sterling Nies. Click here for more information about our other Lovecraft stories in the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre® series. They're like movies you can enjoy with your eyes closed.

In Dark Adventure Radio Theatre's first wholly original episode, Inspector Legrasse stumbles onto a case which may be connected to the Cthulhu cult he and his men broke up nearly twenty years before. Once again he leads an investigation which takes him into the foreboding bayous of Louisiana. Will he again be pitted against deranged cultists and the abominations they worship, or has he found something even more evil and insidious?

The CD edition features the 72-minute show plus a collection of props to enhance your listening experience. They include:

  • an article from the New Orleans Times-Picayune covering Legrasse's successful raid against the swamp cult
  • an arrest report from the New Orleans Police Department
  • a page from an unholy book of secret rituals
  • a powerful relic of New Orleans voodoo

All of these great extras are complemented by the fantastic artwork of illustrator Darrell Tutchton in the style you've come to know and love from other episodes of Dark Adventure Radio Theatre®.

The cover art is available on t-shirts and other fun merch from our Redbubble store!

One of their best

I've been quite the fan of Dark Adventure Radio Theater for some time, but have mostly engaged with the older works and those based on the stories directly. I decided it was time to jump in, having just re-listened to The Call of Cthulhu recently, and noticing that this was something of a "sequel".

I think this is one of their best works yet (I still have the greatest fondness for The Shadow Over Innsmouth). Not just as a radio show, but their approach to the history of Lovecraft as a writer and person, and handling of the subject matter was excellent.

I highly recommend grabbing this one.

A cool tale!

The story and acting are always superb, I love the tie ins with The Call of Cthulhu. The props make it way more immersive while you are listening.

I can't believe this wasn't penned by the man himself

I was interested to hear an original tale and this one is fantastic. I has listened to the DART adaptation of Call of Cthulhu and then straight onto The White Tree. I love the continuation of Inspector Legrasse hunt for answers and this story does it brilliantly. I would love to hear more original tales which continue HPL's stories. Top job from HPLHS.

A Near Masterpiece

Perhaps the darkest and most horrifying story yet, mostly because the evil humanity can do seems far worse than what the Old Ones can dish out.

The voice acting, writing and sound was superb. One star off only because the climactic scene ended up being more Tell and less Show, especially when certain characters needed a satisfying end.

Great Original Tale

I was very impressed with how well this story melds into the world Lovecraft created. I'd love to see more come from this. The actors did an incredible job, it was a great ride.
