The same, but different

The Violet Midnight EP is yet another accompanying release to the masterful Dreams in the Witch House: A Lovecraftian Rock Opera. Now, the main album is perfection on a platter, so why keep releasing more? With the same songs even?
Well, for one thing, mastermind Mike Dalager keeps adding new talent to the roster, musically as well as vocally. Every new person is here allowed to put their own personal stamp on two of the existing songs, giving them new life. The lyrics may vary, the instrumentation and arrangements likewise, giving us a whole new perspective on the whole deal.
So, do they replace or surpass the originals? No, I don't think so, and you don't necessarily need these in order to fully enjoy the rock opera. The original is as perfect today, as it was upon release. The Violet Midnight EP is its own thing however, and you can enjoy it as a supplement to the full story, or fully on its own as a stand-alone product. The final track is an instrumental version of their Azathoth 1922 track, which has previously had a digital release, with Dalager speaking the poem over the music. Now you can have that pleasure yourself!
