Come Play Call of Cthulhu!

Join the HPLHS for one of our game sessions of  Call of Cthulhu® at HPLHS Headquarters in Glendale, California. We've got two games coming up:

  • Keeper Michael Feldman will run Paul Fricker's adventure of terror on the high seas, "Full Fathom Five". This innovative adventure will have you making Sanity rolls faster than you can say "Yo-ho!"

Space is highly limited so tickets are required. Your ticket includes gaming refreshments. No previous Call of Cthulhu experience required for this game.

The Spark Devil CoC scenario review

Sean Branney is a splendid Keeper for Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu ttRPG--his dramatic talents shine brightly with each NPC he portrays; he allows players to do what they need while also keeping them corralled into the mystery, he keeps the scenario dramatically paced.

The props for this scenario were outstanding, but that should be old news for the HPLHS.

I have been playing Call of Cthulhu RPG for a few decades, and The Spark Devil was a refreshing diversion.

Highly recommended!

The Spark Devil

I really can't recommend this experience more highly. Being able to play a brand new scenario with Sean as Keeper was a truly memorable couple of nights! The props were out of this world (as you would expect) and the other players were super fun! I'll be keeping my eyes open for future spots at the table!

IÄ HPLHS!

I cannot express how much fun I had! Sean created an immersive world for all of us to explore and investigate! The voices he used made it feel like we were in a DART episode! And the props! The props! I am so happy to be a part of the play test and am now inspired to write my own adventure! Can't wait to be a part of another adventure! Thanks again Sean and thanks HPLHS! IÄ!

A Fantastic Experience!

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for running The Spark Devil for me and our group of investigators. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.Your dedication to writing such an engaging adventure and putting together all those fantastic props! The attention to detail and effort you put into creating the atmosphere truly made the game memorable.

Everything the HPLHS puts out has always been a delight to me! I can not express in proper words how much joy your organization has given to me with the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre episodes. It has helped me shape the line of work and for that I want to give you much profound gratitude.

Thank you once again for a fantastic experience, and I hope we get the opportunity to play again in the future.

Get In On One of these Games if you Can

I participated in the first of two sessions featuring Chaosium's Pulp Cthulhu setting, and it was a blast! Sean Branney acted as our Keeper of Arcane Lore, walking us players through a quick character creation process before letting us loose in the scenario he'd chosen to run, "The Disintegrator". I personally had some difficulty adjusting to the pulp genre of the game, and, in fact, created a character better suited to more traditional, or "purist" Call of Cthulhu. The two-fisted, strong-willed, action-oriented nature of Pulp Cthulhu investigators (more Robert E. Howard than Howard P. Lovecraft) really mark this setting as different from classic Call of Cthulhu. I admire Sean's ability to keep the game moving while seeming to effortlessly keep track of what each player is trying to have his or her character accomplish. It was readily apparent that, for Sean, the goal of the session was to have fun and tell a great story. I want to mention, too, that Sean does a wonderful job bringing to life the various NPCs the player investigators encounter. His characterizations have been a delight to behold. The session was played at HPLHS HQ, with refreshments and snacks provided using the money generated by the modest ticket price to reserve a seat. And what a great locale for playing Call of Cthulhu, surrounded as we were by all the books, props, art, and other objects produced or acquired by the HPLHS over the years! I would recommend getting in on one of these games if you can.
