Necronomicon Replica Pages

Once the HPLHS managed to get ahold of a copy of the Dee translation of the Necronomicon, we knew our fellow Lovecraft enthusiasts would want one too. Publishing the whole book is on our to-do list, but we have managed to make a superb replica of four pages which you can get now.

Our prop maniacs have recreated the text, typography and artwork from this 1662 publication in exhaustive detail, carefully printed it on paper similar to the original, then hand-aged the pages to give them the look and feel of the actual Maxwell edition of John Dee's English translation of the Necronomicon.

The pages come packaged in an Arkham Police Evidence Envelope. The pages feature John Dee's translation and notes on the book's discussion of the Elder Sign and its use. This awesome prop is suitable for collectors, LARP gamers, and any other weird folk who would like to own a few pages of Lovecraftian history.

Approximate Dimensions: two double-sided pages roughly 9.5 x 7 inches

Should I Open This?

This is a great Lovecraftian experience thanks to the amazing attention to detail. You will feel like you have something in your hands that you should not have opened. Great value!

Simply Perfect

I was looking for some props to spice up my next Call of Cthulhu adventure. These kept grabbing my attention, so I purchased them. They shipped and were received in excellent time, and the quality of the pages is outstanding! My players will flip when they find these pages in-game. I can't imagine the time and care that went into making these! My only complaint is that the evidence envelope they came in is not resealable. Unfortunately I ripped it open when removing the seal... So the envelope wouldn't be usable as a prop as I had hoped just the pages. But the envelope definitely made it all feel authentic, so still a 5 star product!

WHAT ELSE THEN MIGHT ARMITAGE HAVE MISSED?

Rescued and preserved as sealed evidence by the diligence of the Arkham Police Department, following the demise of Wilbur Whateley in his failed burglary attempt at the Orne Library in early August 1928, are these two stained, rucked-up pages from the Dee “Necronomicon”. Clearly, Dr. Armitage missed them during his own hasty salvage mission ahead of the Police’s arrival (another Dee “Necronomicon” page and a sheet from Wilbur’s notebook are among “The Dunwich Horror” DART props, also from the HPLHS). The variant staining on these pages, and their inclusion of a title header line on each (the latter is not present on the separate “Dunwich” page), suggests they must have come from different places in the book. Certainly, they deal with different topics, here concentrating on the correct ways of drawing and constructing Elder Signs, the plurality reaffirming the ambiguity in what these should be in various Lovecraftian and post-Lovecraftian sources. The quality of these props is better than that of the single DART prop page, in terms of the represented physical damage, while their presentation in a sealed evidence envelope is the perfect way to ensure they arrive in this ideally “damaged” condition. Wonderful!
